Richard Casey: Solo PianoRichard Casey’s piano recital programmes a rare outing for Peter Maxwell-Davies’ substantial Piano Sonata as well as Simon Holt’s Nigredo, which Richard believes to be one of the very best piano works to be written in the late twentieth century. Piano pieces by John Adams and George Crumb should make this a fascinating concert. Composer Steve Crowther studied with Jonathan Harvey and Michael Finnissy at the University of Sussex. As a composer he has been fortunate enough to have works performed by a number of leading British artists including the London Sinfonietta, Andrew Ball, Ian Pace, the Smith and Fitzwilliam Quartets and Rosemary Hardy. In 1991 Steve, with former LMF organiser David Power, took over the York concert series "Soundpool", and in 1995, converted it into the Late Music Festival, with David working as Artistic Director and Steve as Administrator. This year the concert series is honouring Steve's dedication, passion and commitment to the promotion and performance of new music by celebrating his 50th Birthday in a number of performances across the concert series. |
