Call for Performers 2010

INTRODUCTION

The Call for Performers is an exciting opportunity for those starting out on a performing career to perform in public at York's Late Music Concert Series and gain experience performing on a public stage.

The Call began in 2007 and has grown from strength to strength, finding some wonderful new talent.

Last year the Call expanded by creating a "performers platform" - a promotional scheme designed to find the performers new work and bigger audiences. If you are successful Call applicant you will get:

  • A presence on the Late Music website.
  • A lunchtime performance in the Late Music Concert Series
  • Free web-based publicity aimed at other concert series, festivals and agents.

CALL FOR PERFORMERS 2010 GUIDELINES

The 2010 Call for performers is open to anyone, but aimed at postgraduate or recent alumni who are starting out on serious performance careers, either as soloists or in groups.

Any size group is able to apply, but due to a limited budget, chamber groups or soloists are more likely to succeed.

The remit of the Late Music Concert Series is to perform the work of living composers only.

Those successful will most likely be given an opportunity to perform in a weekend lunchtime concert and a small fee, to be determined. Travel and Accommodation expenses can be negotiated.

Applications can take any format, but most attention will be given to the applicants that supply the following:-

  • A Curriculum Vitae, or Résumé, detailing the soloist/groups previous experience.
  • A current repertoire list, with emphasis on contemporary music.
  • One or more proposals for a lunchtime concert.
  • A recorded sample of your work.

Our primary goal as a festival is to promote the most up-to-date, cutting edge new music to our audience, but part of our success relies also on appealing to an existing consumer base that recognizes mainstream composers. Ideally a good program will reflect these criteria.
