Lauren Redhead

Lauren Redhead is originally from Leeds but now lives in West Yorkshire, where she is undertaking an AHRC funded PhD at the University of Leeds with Prof. Derek Scott and Dr Martin Iddon. Her music has been performed by Ian Pace, the Nieuw Ensemble, Rhodri Davies, rarescale, Mikroblech, Trio Atem and Trio Labyrinth, amongst others, and at Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival.

Lauren is currently working on her second opera, Green Angel, in collaboration with writer and theatre director Adam Strickson, which will be premiered in full stgaing in 2011. She has been a winner of the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival Young Composers' Competition and partaken of the Young Composers' Professional Development Programme in Amsterdam as part of the same festival. She has also received recognition from the Plainsong and Medieval Music Society and Leeds University Liturgical Choir.

Lauren is keen to retain and strengthen her ties with the North of England and has done so most notably as the composer in residence on a Yorkshire Forward project which yeilded the radio play 'A Burlington Tale'.
